Prior to entering into business ventures with another party, it is important for a business owner to carry out due diligence on the counterparty and the target business or company.
There are various searches which could be carried out as preliminary steps to check whether there is any red flag. It is important to note that the searches should not be substitute for a proper due diligence process and there is no guarantee on the accuracy of the search results.
Some of the searches which can be conducted online without charges include:
1. Search whether a company, business or LLP is existing on the website of the Companies Commission Malaysia (“𝐂𝐂𝐌”).
2. Search whether there is any outstanding compound issued to a business or an individual by the Registrar of Business or to a company or an individual by the Registrar of Companies on CCM website.
3. Search whether a company is in the process of being struck off or has been struck off the register on CCM website.
4. Search for registration of trademark and patent on the Official Portal of Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
5. Search for award of title on 𝘓𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘞𝘦𝘣 𝘙𝘢𝘴𝘮𝘪 𝘉𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘐𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘯 𝘜𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢.
