What does a corporate lawyer do?

Lawyering

Some of my close friends do not know what I do for a living.

They know I am a lawyer. I think they know I am a corporate lawyer.

But they have no idea what I do exactly.

They are not in the legal profession. Tell them my practice areas are M&As (mergers & acquisitions) and ECMs (equity capital markets) and they would only hear some alphabets.

I try to explain that I help entrepreneurs to buy and sell companies and business.

I help companies with their corporate exercises involving shares such as rights issue, IPOs, ESOS and subscription of shares.

Oops…more alphabets…

I am not sure if my explanation helps.

How do you explain your practice areas so that your friends know what you do?

However, in practice, especially in M&A or fundraising, these agreements must align with the Companies Act 2016 and other relevant regulatory requirements. Otherwise, what is …
